Amazon: Development Executive – Germany Unscripted


Amazon Studios launched in 2010 as a new way to develop feature films and episodic series—one that’s open to great ideas from creators and audiences around the world. Amazon Studios Original Content is available to global Prime members and is known for bringing customers the Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-winning series Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle along with original hits like You are Wanted, The Grand Tour, Six Dreams, All or Nothing, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and The Man in the High Castle.

Amazon Studios Europe is seeking an outgoing and self-motivated Development Executive for our non-scripted team in Germany. In this position you will be working with the Senior Development Executive to apply a comprehensive knowledge of development slates, on screen and off-screen talent as well as local market knowledge, to identify non-scripted development opportunities.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the unscripted TV landscape as well as experience in development, production or commissioning. Must have proven creative instincts as well as strong interpersonal skills and industry relationships. This position will be based in Munich and will report to the Senior Development Executive.

We are seeking a dynamic and outgoing individual, they must be self-motivated and have the ability to multi task with a large volume of workload. The candidate must have solid understanding of the local production guilds and laws, budgets and production landscape as well as well as excellent negotiation skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the senior development executive to
  • cultivate new creative relationships within Germany.
  • Solicit and assess proposals, formats, and pitches across multiple territories, making recommendations on submissions.
  • Work production, post and localization and marketing teams to ensure all smooth day to day running of local German productions.
  • Work with the Senior development executive to help drive the execution of the studios vision and goals for the territory.
  • Ensuring all the flow of information across all key stakeholders from development to launch.
  • To attend weekly business, development and production meetings as required.


  • Bachelor’s degree and/or graduate degree or applicable experience
  • Multiple years of series development experience at an executive level, including successful formats and docu-series.
  • Fluent in German and English.


  • Broad network of creators, including producers, production companies, writers, and talent
  • Extensive experience with series development or overseeing current production
  • Familiarity with SVOD or OTT video services
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
